Duluth, MN—December 1, 2016
The Sisu Healthcare IT Solutions team will be onsite with Sleepy Eye Medical Center (SEMC) as they go live with the MEDITECH 6.15 electronic health record (EHR) at midnight. Sisu has been working with SEMC for the past twelve months to implement the MEDITECH platform for tracking and caring for the patients at its clinics and hospital. The go-live event marks the beginning of SEMC actively using the MEDITECH software to perform patient care and health information management tasks.
“Sisu continues to expand our service to healthcare systems in communities looking to provide local, relevant and modern healthcare services for their citizens. SEMC is a model in this regard,” says Scott Lee, Sisu CEO. “The Sisu team of clinical, financial and systems analysts and engineers has not only helped SEMC across the goal line of this important effort, but has benefitted tremendously from the interaction with the SEMC staff and the Sleepy Eye community. We are pleased to be SEMC’s and Sleepy Eye’s partner for many years to come.”
“The direction in healthcare is to proactively manage patient health. Some time ago, our physicians and providers recognized a need for an integrated, modern EHR and were instrumental in driving the change to an EHR that will adapt to our evolving needs,” said Kevin Sellheim, Administrator at SEMC. “The new MEDITECH 6.15 system, which combines the records of a clinic and hospital patient into a single integrated electronic record, will give us superior tools for managing our patients’ health and allow us to retain control of the data and how the system is set up to meet our needs. This ultimately allows us to be flexible and respond quickly to frequent changes in the industry including regulatory requirements, advancements with care delivery and opportunities to improve interoperability with external sources.”
The MEDITECH 6.15 platform combines new, web-based tools for patient care in the clinic. To prepare the whole system for the specific provider and patient workflow needs at SEMC, Sisu has been providing project management, healthcare information analyst and technical engineers to configure the system to SEMC’s specific requirements. Rachel Severson, Director of Health Information Management at SEMC, says that, “The MEDITECH platform will help us achieve our primary goals of integrating and standardizing patient care from the clinic to the hospital and even after the patient goes home. The entire care team will communicate more efficiently with each other and the patient and give SEMC better operational tools such as enhanced financial reporting.”
“Going live is the result of many months of applying MEDITECH’s 6.1 READY program to build, test and train SEMC’s providers on the new software. Sisu has been proud to partner with SEMC throughout the implementation, and now, during the go-live event, and will be SEMC’s perpetual cloud hoster and support solution,” according to Scott Anderson, VP MEDITECH Practice at Sisu.
